Fly Like a Bird: Arm Balancing Workshop with Derris Chew

22 & 23 February 2025

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • Arm balances for beginners/intermediate level practitioners; in particular, the crow pose family
  • How your body type influences the alignment cues
  • How to engage the various muscle groups

 

This workshop is suitable for beginners, preferably with at least 3 months of consistent Hatha yoga practice and with an ability to hold chaturanga pose for at least 10 seconds. Experience in arm balances is NOT a requirement. Students with arm balance experience may also benefit from this workshop in refining the alignment such that they can hold longer in a pose. Students nursing wrist/forearm/elbow/shoulder injuries are advised to consult their doctor/physiotherapist before proceeding.

Derris Chew
Derris discovered yoga in Shanghai 2005 while working as a senior quality manager. Since then, yoga has been his constant as he navigated through life in China and Hong Kong for 12 years. However, the long hours and frequent business travel affected his health, and finally in 2016, Derris left the corporate world to teach yoga.
