Q: What happens during a VO₂ Max and Metabolic Test?
The whole test session is divided into 2 parts.
In part 1, we will be undertaking the resting metabolic test, where you will be hooked up to the PNOE metabolic analyzer, for ten minutes, to record your resting metabolic rate (calories burnt in a day, when your body is at complete rest).
After which, we will head to the treadmill and undertake the active test. Starting with a warm-up segment, the speed of the treadmill will be incrementally increased till the subject reaches exhaustion. This gives us the VO2max result and an analysis of their active metabolism.
Q: Is the VO₂ Max and Metabolic Test only suitable for professional athletes?
No, these tests used to be limited to the usage of professional athletes. But everyone can benefit from these tests.
Weight management clients can use the data from the test to tailor their diets, recreational athletes can use it to improve their performances. It helps beginners train safely, recreational exercisers improve endurance, and individuals aiming for fat loss or recovery adjust their workouts effectively.
