Having started practicing yoga for 15 years, and having started teaching yoga at PURE since 2020, April understands first-hand how different types of fitness and wellness activities can create powerful synergy. Much like how April integrates strength training with her yoga, PURE offers a comprehensive range of exercises and physical activities, including energising fitness group classes and personalised training. Morning Power: Strength Training to Enhance Her Yoga Abilities
For April, strength training has become an integral part of her holistic approach to well-being, specifically chosen to complement and enhance her yoga practice. At PURE, she engages in personalised strength training sessions with Ghazali, designed to maximise these synergistic benefits.
With over a decade of experience and a diverse background spanning bodybuilding, weightlifting and yoga himself, Ghazali complements April well, emphasising building a strong foundation and overcoming challenges with dedication in his approach to personal training.
Q: Why did you decide to start strength training with a PT?
April: “For a few reasons actually. Firstly, I want to live a good life. Not just to live long, but to live well. Secondly, travel is a big part of my life, and I wanted to be able to travel around the world even when I’m 80. Lastly, I felt that building strength would provide a more stable foundation for my yoga practice, improving my stability and allowing me to explore poses with greater control.”
Q: What benefits have you seen?
April: “Ghazali has helped me to build endurance and muscle mass, improve my agility and even my cardiovascular health! His training isn’t simply just someone watching over you when you push some weights or engage in exercises. He incorporates good programming, goal setting and even safety, which has definitely helped my yoga practice and overall wellness.”

Q: How long have you done yoga?
Bee Lee: “I’ve been doing yoga since 2005, after my youngest son was born.”
Q: Why did you take it up?
Bee Lee: “To be honest, I was looking for a way to regain my strength and find some balance after pregnancy, and I thought yoga would be a good option.”
Q: What have you enjoyed the most about your yoga sessions with April, and how have they benefited you?
Bee Lee: “April’s smiling eyes make practice very pleasant, especially when we’re holding challenging poses. Beyond that, because the classes are one-on-one, she makes it a point to personalise the pacing of her sequences so that they’re just right for me. I also like that her classes always come with a thoughtful theme and focus.”
