Grounding: Iyengar Yoga
This class follows the tradition developed by B.K.S. Iyengar. The practice emphasises precision, alignment and safety. Asanas are held for longer periods of time than in other styles with the purpose of allowing the muscles to open and relax; simultaneously promoting focus and awareness in the students. Yoga props such as blocks, straps and blankets may be used to aid the understanding of postures and to allow students to perform the asanas safely. This class helps to integrate the mental and physical planes, bringing about a sense of inner and outer balance. Some pranayama, chanting and meditation may be included. Suitable for students with some yoga experience looking to have an invigorating experience. Some inversions and Mixed Level postures may be introduced with options for less experienced students.
